Goals vs Purpose

Many gurus have talked about goals and life purpose. This is the best quote I have found so far that relate the two with each other (emphases mine) ...

Goals are a means to an end, not the ultimate purpose of our lives. They are simply a tool to concentrate our focus and move us in a direction. The only reason we really pursue goals is to cause ourselves to expand and grow. Achieving goals by themselves will never make us happy in the long term; it's who you become, as you overcome the obstacles necessary to achieve your goals, that can give you the deepest and most long-lasting sense of fulfillment. (Tony Robbins)

People who have "been there" says one thing. Yes, it's great to be at the peak of the mountain. But it is who they have become in the struggle to reach the summit that gives them greater joy. It's their ultimate take.,

So, given that, let's revisit this question: are goals important to our own happiness?

My answer to that is this: To a purposeful person, that answer is Yes. To a purposeless person, the answer is No.

He Chose to Visit Me to Get His Payout

I started giving out payouts to my writers last Friday. One of them is from the other side of the small city of Calamba. He happened to be shopping with his wife at SM City Calamba when I sent him SMS for his bank account.

His reply, "Can I go over there right now?" I thought that was surprising. Anyhow, I said, "Yes, you can come before 12nn because I'm gonna be leaving for a meeting."

This guy is a work-at-home guy as well. So, he has that flexibility to go anywhere during the day and be flexible about his schedule. Nice, isn't it? It's simply you can't enjoy while working in an office.

Social Media Week - Rome

Online jobs is the result of the combined forces of the economy, globalization and the internet. Watch and listen to Gary Swart, CEO of oDesk Corporation (odesk.com).

I'm sure many Filipinos need not leave the country to seek employment abroad. With proper orientation towards the growing opportunities available in the internet, there's a good chance for fathers and mothers to stay home.

Our Fantastic 2011 Family Vacation

The last two weeks have been hectic and exciting for my family. Sponsors in my big family took me, my wife and my kids to a two-week big family vacation that included trips in Cebu, Bohol, Camiguin, Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro City.

Some of the places we visted

I have summarized the places we visited in the diagram above. It was a mix of air, land and sea travel. There were lots of sight-seeing, fun photos, swimming and snorkeling.

How to Create a Fantastic Facebook Page

Facebook Page? Most people only have Facebook accounts. That's alright. It's sufficient to develop a social network. A Facebook Page is something else.

Powerful graphics. You want a Facebook Page like this?!

Businesses and personalities need a Facebook Page. It's almost similar to a standard Facebook account, except for a few details that matter.

For example, you 'Like' a Facebook Page. But you 'Add as Friend' a person's account. You can have at most 5,000 Facebook Friends. But you can have unlimited number of 'Fans' in a Facebook Page.

How to Spice Up Your Online Experience with iGoogle

Not everybody knows iGoogle. Much less know what iGoogle can do to spice up your online experience. But those who use iGoogle are smiling brightly and widely for having an equivalent of their phone's dashboard on their computer screen.

iGoogle can be your portal or grand entrance to the online world

What iGoogle basically does is put into one page all the links and gadgets that you normally use and need. Then you can access that page from whatever computer you may find yourself with. Those who are in front of the computer all the time would know how valuable that page could be.

In fact, it is now a pain for me not to have an iGoogle page.

How to Create a Useful Expense List

"Where did my money go?" Doesn't the question sound familiar? Someone received a big sum from a long lost uncle. After a time, he desperately asked, "Gosh, where did that money go?"

Bookkeeping isn't just for accountants. It is for everyone who handles money. That means you and me, as well as every home or project outside of home.

The truth is, we all ask the question. How much salary have we received last year? Where have we spent all those money? When I was single, I recorded every expense I could record for three straight years, thanks to a simple system that I used in Excel.
