Instagram Rocks, Doesn't it?

Instagram was a friend of sorts to me last weekend. Spending most time on bed due to illness (ok, asthma with runny nose and lots of yakky phlegm plus some headache and fever), a geek still couldn't live without some tech thing. Thanks to Android, I played around with Instagram. Then, lo and behold, the richpinoyonline Instagram account was born.

The richpinoyonline Instagram account

Instagram rocks, doesn't it? I mean, it's like Twitter, only visual. Another thing I like about it is that it doesn't filter any post (unlike Facebook, though I can't blame Mark Zuckerberg). I like it most for its being a mobile social platform. It keeps you connected even while in bed and too tired to think.

Dress Up and Go!

I woke up this past weekend and something hit me. I was alive! I felt it! It's almost like some kind of a magical experience wherein, seemingly from out of nowhere, you just feel joyful and light! Did something like that happen to you?

The truth is, no one is exempt from "clouds" of life. You just have to trust that the sun is out there, even in the middle of a raging storm. Oh yeah, you may have to deal with the flood and the leaking roof, borrow some money and promise to pay it off. You may have to walk a step at a time, figuratively or literally. But you know that the sun's gonna come out soon.

Truly Rich Club Wealth Summit 2013

I had the privilege of being on stage with Jomar Hilario and 3 other online income earners during the Wealth Summit 2013 at the Philippine International Convention Center. Around 300 people were there.

On stage with (L-R), Jomar Hilario, Jan McKingleyHilado, Paolo Josef Abadesco and Sha Nacino (photo from the Timeline of Sha Nacino)

During the Wealth Summit, I was interviewed by Jomar about my journey towards my present online work. He asked what I did before working online, the transition and how I spend a typical day these days. The time on stage however was limited.

Allow me to talk about my story in greater detail here.

Upgrade to Mac OS 8, Hectic yet Smooth

Yesterday, it dawned on me that my Mac was still using OS 10.6.8. Upon checking Mac Support, I discovered that the latest OS version was already 9.2.2! Apparently, I couldn't jump to that version from where I am. I've got to pass through OS 8, though I think I didn't really need to get to OS 9 right away (ok, fine, stingy me! ^_^ )

Lia, one of my distinguished colleagues laughed heartily at how I could have possibly let Mac OS 7 and OS8 pass by. I defended myself by saying, hey, Mac 0S 10.6.8 worked fine for everything I needed to work online. I didn't feel any need to upgrade!

The Secret to Embarrassingly Large Profits

Let me share with you this quote:

A business absolutely devoted to service will have only one worry about profits. They will be embarrassingly large.
~ Henry Ford (1863-1947) American industrialist

This reminds me of the story of three people working in a construction site. A child passed by and asked them what they were doing. One said, "I am digging a hole." The second one said, "I am building a wall." The last one said, "I am building a Church."

Who among the three would you call when you want to build your house? If you're setting yourself up to be physically involved, call the first one. If you're setting yourself up to get mentally involved, call the second guy. But if you want to sit and relax while others sweat it out, you'd call the third.

Getting 'Hooked' in Twitter Follows?

The big numbers of followers in some Twitter accounts used to fascinate me. "How could I do that?" I asked. Now, the fascination remains, but it's tempered by an equally fascinating subject about engagement.

Followers, yes! How many of these do you befriend?

It's one thing to have 10,000 or 50,000 or even 2,000,000 followers. It's another to engage with them in meaningful conversations.

Let me explain.

A Slice of Working at Home

I work at home. Many people still couldn’t get what that means. I’m tired of explaining. Now, I just let them think whatever they want to think and not give a damn. Oh, how life has become simpler since then.

Working at home, in squatting position, in front of TV and with kids running around

Neighbors thought I work nights somewhere. That’s because they see me at home during the day, wearing shorts and tending my garden. My eyes go up each time someone mentions I work nights. But I have learned to cope with the punishment by saying, “Yeah! See you around.”
