Dress Up and Go!

I woke up this past weekend and something hit me. I was alive! I felt it! It's almost like some kind of a magical experience wherein, seemingly from out of nowhere, you just feel joyful and light! Did something like that happen to you?

The truth is, no one is exempt from "clouds" of life. You just have to trust that the sun is out there, even in the middle of a raging storm. Oh yeah, you may have to deal with the flood and the leaking roof, borrow some money and promise to pay it off. You may have to walk a step at a time, figuratively or literally. But you know that the sun's gonna come out soon.

Then, all of a sudden, here comes the sun indeed! Isn't there a song with that title? Yeah, Beatles. One of my favorites since I was a kid. It's worth sharing to those who haven't heard of Beatles.

The "clouds" of life come in many forms, I guess. But the most potent among them is fear. It's almost like a contagious cold. You easily get it from someone and you also easily transmit it to people around you. Once you have it, it's your responsibility, no one else's, to shake them off.

If fear is a person, I don't have no issue with fear itself. We accomplish things in life despite it, and, yeah, sometimes because of it. But being in a state of fear is just plain nasty and unnecessary!

In other words, there are fears and there are fears. There are those you just have to shake off through anything. Maybe you distract yourself with your pet or hobby. You may dilute some with a good reading material or company. Or maybe you just have to dress up like a winner and go out to a mall or automobile dealer!

But then yeah, there may be fears that are really nagging you, eating you up inside like bugs that have gotten into your bones. These fears could be anything from what people might say or what might come out of you at the end of the tunnel. No matter how gnawing the feelings may be, they're still are simply that - fears.

Don't get me wrong. Fears are real feelings, but it is not an object! Feelings warn us about things we need to do or not do. But frequently, we allow fear to propel our thoughts towards grim but imaginary outcomes.

For instance, why should you care about what others say? Will their words kill? Or, why should fear of heights stop you from going to the roof deck and enjoy the view?

If I were to give you some unsolicited advise (naks!), I'd grant you one fear. What if ... these fears aren't real? I mean, what if all these things that are stopping you are not even real? What if they're like pebbles on the road that you can easily step on?

What would you have missed if you let these things repeatedly stop you? What is it at the end of the road that you'd never reach and cherish if you stop?

There you go, have fear of that. Have a great day!
